Medical Assistants are essential members of the health care team at St. Luke’s. They are employed in our primary care and specialty clinics, located in Duluth, Superior, Hibbing, Mountain Iron, Silver Bay, Two Harbors, and Ashland.

Medical Assistants perform a variety of tasks to assist Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinic staff in providing patient care. This may include the following, in addition to many more!
- Checking vital signs
- Discussing brief medical history
- Performing procedures
- Administrating medications and vaccines
- Coordinating additional service such as lab or x-ray
- Documenting in the patient's medical record
To be employed as a Medical Assistant at St. Luke's, you are required to have a certification or license within 120 days of hire in one of the following areas:

Starting pay for a Medical Assistant is over $17 per hour if you are a new graduate, and a higher earning potential for those with experience. However, the hourly wage is only part of your compensation package. We have a generous medical, dental, retirement and paid time off benefit plan offered to all employees hired into a position that is .60 FTE and above.If I’m not already trained, where can I go to school?
