Psychiatry
For emotional and mental health
Struggling with mental health issues can feel overwhelming. At our clinic, we want you to know that you do not have to manage your mental health alone. We are now accepting new psychiatry patients, including adults, adolescents and children. We require a referral, but the referral does not need to be from an Aspirus St. Luke’s provider. If you have any questions, please call our clinic at 218.249.7000.
In addition to seeing patients in person at our Duluth clinic location, we have a few additional options.
- After an initial, in-person appointment at our clinic, we can see patients via telemedicine.
- Patients can schedule all of their appointments at our Aspirus St. Luke’s clinics in Hibbing or Mountain Iron and see their psychiatry provider via telemedicine.
What is psychiatry?
Psychiatrists use medical treatments to manage behavioral health disorders, including depression, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, and bipolar disorder. Prescribed medications may include antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and anxiolytics. Our services include:
- Customized behavioral health medication management for adults, adolescents and children
- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
- Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
-
Long-acting injectables
-
Psychotherapy (also known as talk therapy)
Psychiatric care is personalized to each patient. The goal is not only to alleviate symptoms but also to help individuals lead fulfilling lives.
Does Aspirus St. Luke's have an inpatient unit for mental health?
Yes. When a person is experiencing a mental health crisis, the most appropriate care to meet their needs may be on our hospital’s inpatient unit. We strive to preserve their dignity while ensuring their physical and emotional safety at the same time. A referral is not required for our inpatient mental health services.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, call 911 or come into
our Emergency Department.
If you are not experiencing a mental health crisis and think you may benefit
from psychiatry, talk to your primary care provider.
