Philosophy of Care
Within my life and my practice, I have embedded and enshrined the concept of “cura personalis,” a founding Jesuit principle of my medical School, Georgetown. Loosely translated as the “care of the whole person,” I truly believe in treating a patient as a whole person, and not just as another medical record number, not just as another pathology or disease to tackle. I believe in treating patients with the dignity and respect every single person deserves, and I make sure I explain in great detail what is going on, and what are the treatment options. I believe that information and education empowers and makes me and the patient a team, in dealing with any pathology. I treat my patients like my family, and my patients and their families know that I will always be by their side and take care of them. I am humbled and honored to be part of my patients’ healthcare and their lives, and I am grateful to have found such a great home at St.Lukes and at Duluth.
