Honoring Those Affected by Perinatal Loss

Posted On:

A group of St. Luke's employees and patients gather to dedicate a special memorial planter.

Those affected by perinatal loss now have a special place to go at St. Luke’s to honor the little ones who have gone from us too soon.

St. Luke’s Maternal Child Health Department held a dedication for a special planter located outside of Building A. This planter, filled with specially selected flowers, honors all babies who have died, whether during pregnancy, birth, or as an infant, and their families who remember them.

Touching words were shared and those in attendance were given wildflower seed paper and encouraged to write a note to their child and add it to the planter. Families were gifted fairy garden stakes in remembrance of their child and cookies were provided by Snazzy Cakes, honoring baby Lyric.

For parents who have experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death, St. Luke’s hosts a monthly Perinatal Loss Grief Support Group. You do not have to be a St. Luke’s patient, and this group is open to both men and women. Every meeting will be co-facilitated by a specially trained nurse and a parent who has experienced the death of a baby.
