PGY1 Pharmacy Residency
St. Luke's is proud to offer a one-year postgraduate PGY1 ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency program. The program is designed for practitioners who are looking for a comprehensive pharmacy residency experience. St. Luke's residency program provides the resident with an opportunity to further develop their skills in Adult Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Infusion Therapy/Oncology, and Pharmacy Practice Management. Additional elective rotations are available in Home Care/Hospice, Informatics, Ambulatory Care, Academia and Emergency Department Medicine. Residents are also involved with pharmacy students at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy Duluth Campus by working as teaching assistants in the clinical skills lab. Didactic lecturing experiences at the College of Pharmacy are also available for residents who are interested in such an opportunity. If desired, the resident may also complete a teaching certificate.
Projects
Each resident will learn project management skills while working on one major research project. Results of the project will be presented at a Pharmacy Residency Conference and a manuscript will be written for the project. Additionally, residents will conduct a Medication Use Evaluation (MUE), with the results being reported to the appropriate hospital committee(s).
Staffing
Residents will work every other weekend, working in the central pharmacy one weekend and as a clinical pharmacist on the other weekend. Residents have a day off either before or after they work the weekend. The staffing commitment begins in mid-August and runs through the end of the residency year, with the exception of the weekend preceding the ASHP Midyear Clinical meeting. Residents are required to work two holidays a year. One winter holiday, either Thanksgiving or New Year's Day, and one summer holiday, either Labor Day or Memorial Day.
Stipend
Annual stipend is $50,000.

Application Process
- Prerequisites: Pharm.D degree and licensure as a pharmacist in Minnesota no later than August 1
- Requirements: Enrollment in ASHP National Matching Service. Applicants must submit the following through the Pharmacy Online Residency Application Service (PhORCAS): three letters of recommendation, curriculum vitae, official college transcript, letter of intent, and project or presentation.

Interview
- On-site interviews to invited applicants in January and February
- Interview includes meetings with the program director, department leadership and preceptors
