Passionate about healthcare reform, health policy and advocacy, Dr. Horning is currently the Physician Champion for Chequamegon Clinic's participation in a joint program between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) working to improve immunization rates.

Dr. Horning is interested in international medicine, global health and working to address health disparities. In 2012, he spent a few months working for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in a refugee camp in Yida, South Sudan.
Dr. Horning is also interested in climate change adaptation and the effects of climate change on health.
