Philosophy of care
Knowledge is power. People make their own decisions better if they understand how their actions have both good and bad consequences.
Why Dr. Donovan went into medicine
As a Roman Catholic I am called to charity and service. Medicine is all about charity and service with the challenges of science to keep it interesting.
Favorite advice to give to patients
People don’t plan to fail, they fail to plan.
Outside of work I enjoy sailing, hunting, fishing, biking, singing in the DSSO choir and being with my family.
A Complete Guide to Weight Loss, published in 2012. This book covers topics such as why we gain weight, why we should lose excess fat and how to keep it off. Obesity is a chronic disease and can be treated by using food as a drug to cause better weight loss. Dr. Donovan discusses the laboratory tests he does for his obese patients and explains the science in a language easy to understand. A good resource for people who want to lose weight and for physicians who want to help them.
