Get Care Sooner: Aspirus St. Luke’s Clinics Offer Direct Access to Physical Therapy
Aspirus St. Luke’s Clinic patients in Duluth, the Iron Range, North Shore and northern Wisconsin are offering more direct access to physical therapy.
Through direct access, patients can receive an initial evaluation and begin treatment with a licensed physical therapist without a physician’s referral. This approach allows people to start care more quickly, which helps reduce pain, improve mobility and get back to daily activities sooner.
Direct access empowers our patients to take the first step toward recovery without unnecessary delays,” said Aspirus St. Luke’s Ashland Clinic Physical Therapist Jacey Janz-Vernoski. “As providers we have Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees. That means we screen patients to determine if therapy is appropriate or if they need to be referred to a physician. By making it easier to see a physical therapist, we’re helping people in our communities access care they need when they need it.”
While many insurance plans cover direct access to physical therapy, coverage varies. Patients are encouraged to check with their insurance provider to verify eligibility. To learn more or schedule an appointment, contact physical therapy support staff at 218.249.6040.
