Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Mary Boylan to Serve on AHA Regional Board

St. Luke’s Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Mary Boylan was recently elected to serve a second term on the American Heart Association’s (AHA) 2022-2023 Midwest Board of Directors.

“I am honored to help lead the American Heart Association’s efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of our community as a member of the Midwest Board of Directors,” said Dr. Boylan. “I am passionate about helping people live longer, healthier lives, and I believe the American Heart Association is doing incredible work to make that a reality for ALL Americans.”

During the upcoming year, Dr. Boylan will play an instrumental role in advancing health equity and guiding efforts to reduce the incidences of heart disease and stroke in the Midwest. Alongside the other members of the Midwest Board of Directors, Dr. Boylan will help oversee the American Heart Association’s efforts in a 13-state region, comprised of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Together, the regional volunteer leadership board will guide the Association to drive breakthroughs in science and technology, change systems and policies, address disparities, and transform health care and the health of communities around the world.

St. Luke’s is proud of Dr. Boylan’s amazing work, both in the Operating Rooms at St. Luke’s, and in helping lead the AHA’s mission.
