Aspirus Lake View Hospital (ALV) has been named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital (CAH) in the United States by Chartis Center for Rural Health for the second year in a row.

ALV is one of only 11 hospitals in Minnesota to achieve the national recognition and is among the top 7% of CAHs in the country. The rating is based on the Chartis Rural Hospital Strength INDEX, which assess performance in inpatient and outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and finance.

“Each member of our ALV team deserves recognition for this remarkable achievement, marking our second consecutive year of excellence,” said Greg Ruberg, President, Aspirus Lake View. “What sets this national recognition apart is its foundation in ALV’s Performance Dashboard philosophy. By focusing on key areas—patient experience, quality, safety, employee engagement—we consistently drive strong results. This continued success is a direct result of the dedication and collaboration of our team, all working together for the benefit of our patients and their families.”

As of January 2025, there were 1,371 CAHs in the United States. Minnesota has 77 and Wisconsin has 58.
