Hilding Medical Library

St. Luke’s offers a complete research and information access system based in our medical library. The services of the Hilding Medical Library are free to hospital staff and affiliated physicians. Anyone is welcome to use the library; however, only staff and physicians can check out materials. Most of the materials are intended for health care professionals, but there is a small consumer health collection. Please contact the librarian if you have any questions about using the library.

We participate in Docline and our LIBID is MNUSLD. Click here to view our list of journals

Searches of the Medline and CINAHL databases are available through the librarian for health care staff. If you would like a search, complete a Literature Search Form or call the librarian. All searches will be done within 24 hours or sooner if requested. Check off the citations you want and return the search to the library and the articles will be copied or requested from other libraries.

Interlibrary Loan

Articles can be requested from other libraries if they are not available at St. Luke’s. If you are requesting articles that are not from literature searches, please give as complete a description as possible. This includes the title, author, name of journal, volume and issue number, date and page numbers. If you have a deadline, please let the librarian know. Articles from libraries in Duluth can take one to two days to get and, if outside Duluth, it may take up to two weeks. Articles can be faxed if needed for a medical emergency.

Audiovisual Equipment

Audiovisual equipment is available from the AV-Lab. The AV-Lab is open from 8 a.m. to noon each day. Equipment includes VCRs, overheads and slide projectors.

Use the AV request form to request material. It is best to give at least 24-hours notice to guarantee equipment availability. In emergency situations, call the librarian.

Information Resources in the Library

The Hilding Medical Library has addresses and phone numbers of physicians, hospitals and associations, as well as a basic reference book collection and extensive journal collection. Please call if you need help locating health care information that is in either the St. Luke’s Medical Library or elsewhere.
