Embracing Diversity and Inclusion: Sex, Gender, and Sexuality

About This Event

****FOR ST. LUKE'S EMPLOYEES ONLY****

As our society continues to evolve, so does our understanding of individual identities. Understanding and respecting gender and sexuality diversity has become paramount, particularly within healthcare environments.

This skill-building session, offered by the Transgenda podcast co-hosts Ana and Cam, is designed to provide healthcare professionals with a comprehensive understanding and the necessary tools to ensure that all patients feel welcomed, respected, and supported, irrespective of their identity.

Key Objectives

  • Understanding gender identity and sexuality, including key terms to establish a shared language.
  • Creating a welcoming environment that honors the identities and experiences of gender and sexually diverse patients and staff.
  • Being sensitive with communication using respectful inquiry to understand individual needs.
  • Addressing bias and enhancing empathy by understanding how gender nonconforming people are viewed by society and learning about the unique challenges trans and non-binary individuals face particularly in healthcare settings.
