When to See a Doctor

If you think you’ve been exposed to the virus and you have symptoms of COVID-19, especially if you have risk factors for serious disease, contact your doctor. Call ahead and tell your doctor about your symptoms and your concern for exposure. They may have additional instructions for you.

Your doctor and medical team may:

  • Contact infection control and public health officials
  • Have you wear a mask
  • Have you move quickly to a room by yourself
  • Take your temperature and use an oxygen meter on your finger
  • Swab your throat and nose
  • You may be asked to wait in your car
  • You may have an X-ray or blood draw
