Everything we do circulates around the heart
St. Luke's Anticoagulation Clinic is for patients taking anticoagulants, or blood thinners, such as warfarin (Coumadin). The goal of the clinic is to prevent clot formation and minimize the risk of excessive bleeding.
This clinic provides:
- Laboratory monitoring
- Dosage adjustment
Medication dosage is monitored to make sure it’s enough to prevent clot formation, without increasing the risk of excessive bleeding. Factors that can affect blood clotting are taken into consideration for each patient. This includes their activity level, other medications, diet and current health status (cold, flu, infection, etc.).
