The American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for childcare workers throughout the United States. It teaches childcare providers and other lay rescuers to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.

The course covers child/infant CPR, child AED, child/infant choking and pediatric first aid.

Upon successful completion of the course, including first aid and CPR skills tests, participants will receive a course completion eCard via email. The eCard is valid for 2 years.

The course is offered in a blended learning format, which consists of an online module and an in-person skills session.

Course completion steps:

Step 1: Register for the Heartsaver Pediatric Blended First Aid CPR AED course online here. There is an $80.00 registration fee. You will be contacted by Education Department staff to schedule your in-person skills session.

Step 2: You will receive an email from Education Department staff with information on accessing the online module. You do not need to go to the AHA site to purchase this separately.

Step 3: Complete the online portion of the class. The online session will take approximately 3 hours to complete. You will receive a certificate of completion after passing the online portion of the course. You must print your certificate of completion and bring it to your scheduled class.

Step 4: Attend the Heartsaver Pediatric Blended First Aid CPR AED skills session - present your certificate of completion from the online module to the instructor. The in-person session will take approximately 1-1.5 hours to complete.
