St. Luke's Sleep Center Receives Accreditation
Congratulations to St. Luke's Sleep Center on receiving accreditation by
the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
The Sleep Center is located in St. Luke's Hospital on 1 West. Patients undergo sleep studies in a comfortable, private room. Studies are conducted in one of four suites which are handicapped accessible. Medical Director for St. Luke's Sleep Center is Vance Bachelder, MD, board certified in critical care and sleep medicine, as well as board-certified in internal medicine and pulmonary medicine. Studies are scored by registered polysomnography technologists and then interpreted by Dr. Bachelder or Dr. Joseph Martinelli, also board certified in sleep medicine.
To receive this five-year accreditation, sleep centers must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designed by the academy. The process included a detailed inspection of the facility and staff, an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts and physician training. The Center's goals must also be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves.
