Birthing Center

St. Luke's was the first Duluth hospital to offer a birthing center. Now the accepted practice for hospitals nationwide, birthing centers offer expectant parents a home-like environment where they can experience their baby's birth.

Our birthing center has private suites where families can share in labor, delivery and recovery. A traditional delivery room is available for the rare complication that requires special treatment. Cesarean sections are performed in surgical suites.

We want you to have a meaningful and satisfying birth experience and a healthy beginning for your baby. Family involvement is invited. Experienced nurses offer post-delivery and baby care education tailored to meet your needs.

Early bonding promotes positive experiences for parents, siblings and grandparents. You are encouraged to keep your baby in your room as much as you like.  See for yourself. Call 218-249-5605 to arrange for your personal tour of the Birthing Center.

There's no such thing as too many questions. Why does my baby sleep so much? Is crying that loud bad for him? Am I supposed to be this tired? They're questions we've heard countless times-we even asked a few when we had our own children-and that's why we can put you at ease.

Everything we do here is to help you be as relaxed and comfortable as possible. Before, during and after the birth of your baby. And while that may not be as simple as it sounds, we have as many ways to help as you have questions.
