Dining Program

The Dining Program assists patients with swallowing and/or feeding difficulties.  Each patient is assisted in maximizing their ability to eat meals safely and independently.  A complete assessment of the patient's ability to:

  • Swallow solid and liquids
  • Use of utensils and cups
  • Opening of cartons, containers and packages
  • Visually locating items on table

An individual treatment plan is developed based on this assessment.  The treatment plan includes:

  • Training with the use of adaptive equipment or feeding techniques
  • Positioning
  • Swallowing techniques
  • Diet modification
  • Environment
  • Nutrition
