Philosophy of Care

Improving the functional independence of those we serve.

It is St. Luke's Acute Rehabilitation Unit policy that all team members will act in a manner consistent with the mission, philosophy and operating policies of the program. 

Our goal is to provide a comprehensive rehabilitation program of the highest quality.

Criteria for Acute Rehabilitation Care

A patient is appropriate for acute rehabilitation if they:

  • Require daily access to a rehabilitation physician, who will oversee the patient's medical needs and functional plan of care
  • Require 24-hour rehabilitation nursing
  • Able to tolerate a relatively intense therapy program, consisting of at least three hours of therapy (PT, OT, ot ST) five days a week, or have the potential to build up to this within 10 days
  • Need at least two types of therapy
  • Have the ability to achieve rehabilitation goals in a reasonable period of time.

Conditions and Treatments

St. Luke's Acute Rehabilitation Unit provides prgrams and services for patients who have suffered functional loss due to a disabling illness or injury, including the following:

Accreditations

  • Joint Commission of Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO)
  • The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
