Rheumatology Associates
Rheumatology is a sub-specialty of internal medicine. Many types of rheumatic diseases are not easily identified in the early stages, and require the expertise of a rheumatologist to determine a correct diagnosis. It is important that diagnosis and treatment begin early, as some musculoskeletal disorders respond best to treatment in the early stages of the disease. These diseases often change over time, so it is important for the rheumatologist and the patient to work closely together to develop treatment programs specific for the individual.
Philosophy of Care
The staff at St. Luke's Rheumatology Associates are committed to the detection and treatment of arthritis and other diseases of the joints, muscles and bones.
Osteoporosis is a degenerative bone disease that gradually weakens the bones, and may result in serious fractures later in life. Hovever detection and treatment are possible through testing called DEXA bone mineral density studies. Charles Moore,MD; Stephen Hadley,MD; Waseem Khan, MD and Darryl Peterson, PA-C are certified by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry to read and interpret DEXA studies.
Our rheumatology specialists work with the patient's primary care physician and other members of the health care team to manage chronic musculoskeletal disorders.
