St. Luke's Opens New Clinic for Interventional Pain Management

St. Luke's is pleased to announce the creation of an interventional pain management clinic, St. Luke’s Interventional Pain Management. Dr. Kathryn Thompson, a member of St. Luke’s Anesthesia Associates, will be the medical director at St. Luke’s Interventional Pain Management. The new clinic is located in St. Luke's Building A at 1012 East Second Street.

Dr. Thompson states, “At St. Luke’s Interventional Pain Management, we want to improve overall function and quality of life for our patients.” With referral from a primary care physician, Dr. Kathryn Thompson treats chronic, acute and cancer pain through a multimodal, comprehensive approach, including medication recommendations, interventional therapies, and referrals.

St. Luke’s Interventional Pain Management is consultative, and throughout the process, the primary care provider remains front and center. Dr. Thompson works to set patients on an effective pain management regimen. “Some of our goals include coordination of strategies to provide relief of pain, prevention of prolonged disability, and enhancement of quality of life,” said Dr. Thompson. Once a routine is established, the patient follows up with their primary care physician.

A graduate of Mayo Medical School, Dr. Thompson is board certified in anesthesiology, and is fellowship trained and board eligible in pain medicine. She states, “I am looking forward to communicating and collaborating with St. Luke’s staff to provide patients with the best care and most relief possible.”
