Science and the pursuit of figuring out complex problems have always been
intriguing to Dr. Allert. Upon graduating from college, she taught high
school science in the Virgin Islands and then in England. When the opportunity
arose, her husband encouraged her to pursue her dreams of going to medical school.
Dr. Allert enjoys the challenge of solving complex medical and social problems
in the context of family medicine. She believes her job is to not only
take care of the patient, but to care for the health of her community
as well. Her best advice to patients is to “be gentle on yourself
and others, as most people are dealing with difficulties others are unaware
Dr. Allert was on the Lake View Board of Directors for 21 years and was
the Chair of the Board during the hospital expansion. She has also served
on the local food shelf board and is the current president of the Lake
Superior Chapter of Family Physicians.
In her spare time Dr. Allert enjoys appliance repair work.
