Georgia Caldwell started volunteering in 2000 and has given over 700 hours
to St. Luke’s. She currently volunteers in the gift shop. Her duties
involve serving customers, marking and prices merchandise and keeping
the area neat and clean. She has also volunteered at the information desk
and day surgery on 4 East. She enjoys contact with people and helping
them as well as promoting St. Luke’s Hospital. The gift shop is
a very cheerful place.
Georgia was born in Superior, Wisconsin and has lived in Santa Monica CA
and Cook MN. She was married to Dan Caldwell, but is currently divorced.
They have 3 children, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild due in
April. She is a registered nurse and worked at St. Luke’s for 35
years. She worked in Pediatrics and Nursing Management – taking
early retirement in 1997.
She enjoys traveling (her last trip was to Alaska to visit her son and
daughter-in-law) photography, computer editing, genealogy, ragtime (listening
and going to live performances) and spending time with family and friends.
Her hobbies are photography and genealogy.
What others are surprised to know about her is her age. They say she looks
a lot younger than she is. Other than that she is pretty much an open book.
She is a member of St. Luke’s Nurses Alumni, Glen Avon Presbyterian
Church, Lake Superior Ragtime, Twin Ports Genealogical Society and a previous
member of the Duluth Camera Club.
